Autonomous Construction Robot

AUTONOMOUS CONSTRUCTION ROBOT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR CSS. It’s no secret that the construction industry is plagued by a lack of skilled tradespersons. Any developer or contractor can attest to the difficulty of hiring and retaining qualified and reliable labour.

This is why CSS is developing an Autonomous Robot that can perform the tasks of a team of bricklayers and timber framers as 1 machine. This is the Internet of Things IOT and that’s where automation supersedes manual labour to speed up productivity and lower costs of the house. This robot can be used to train staff or be sent to countries that have been hit by a natural disaster for shelter relief installation. This robot is called DARREN (Dynamic Autonomous Robot of Reliable Engineering and construction of New buildings). DARREN is a tough and agile mobile robot designed for construction operations.

Its six independently rotating tracks allow it to traverse steep, rough terrain where other robots dare not go. Climb terrains and over profiles so there is no damage to bottom tracks. DARREN is a complete digital manufacturing cell, which can be used at construction sites. DARREN has a massive payload of both vehicle and robotic arm, DARREN is perfect to perform a variety of tasks which require stability, reach and torque.

This new machine is a perfect specimen of a mobile manipulator. The design goal is to create an autonomous machine that can manoeuvre anywhere on a construction site and be able to perform site mapping for whatever task is required.
